Jib Crane (often confused as “Zip crane”) is a type of material handling crane used in factories and workshops to lift and move heavy loads within a small area. It works together with a hoist and rotates around a fixed point.

Description

A Jib crane has a horizontal arm (jib or boom) that is attached to a vertical column or wall. A hoist and trolley move along the arm to lift and transport materials. The arm can rotate (usually up to 180°–360°) to move loads around the work area.

Main Parts

Column / Pillar – Vertical support fixed to the floor or wall
Jib Arm (Boom) – Horizontal beam that holds the load
Hoist – Lifting mechanism with motor and wire rope/chain
Trolley – Moves the hoist along the arm
Hook – Used to lift the load

Types of Jib Cranes

Pillar Mounted Jib Crane – Fixed on the floor with a column
Wall Mounted Jib Crane – Fixed on a wall or column
Articulating Jib Crane – Has two arms for flexible movement
